Canadian Filmmakers Win at SXSW Film Fest

e496.jpgCanadian filmmakers were among the award winners at the 2009 South by Southwest film festival, which wrapped Saturday in Austin, Texas.

…A spin-off of the popular music fest, SXSW’s film component.

Cattle Call by the Winnipeg filmmaking duo of Matthew Rankin and Mike Maryniuk was named best experimental short.

Iron Maiden: Flight 666 won the 24 Beats Per Second audience award.

…Directed by Toronto’s Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, the movie will hit theatres next month.
