A new private equity film fund has just been launched in Canada!
…The fund, known as the Arrowleaf Fund, is looking to raise $2.5 million that, in turn, could be accessed by film producers who want to shoot their productions here.
…Plans are currently in the works to shoot the movie Gunless, a Western-themed comedy featuring Canadian actor Paul Gross.
…According to Sara Shaak, the region’s former film commissioner who is now an independent producer with her own company Grapevine; if the fund succeeds in its goal of investing in three to five films per year, it could mean an additional $5 million to $20 million in economic stimulus to the regional economy.
…The Arrowleaf Fund will be administered by Sara Shaak, Canadian actor and director Jason Priestley and local businessman Brent Bolleman of Axel Partners.
