Canadian Actress Being Erica

7afe.jpgThe new CBC TV comedy series Being Erica stars 30 year old Canadian actress Erin Karpluk who auditioned for the role on tape in Vancouver and was then flown to Toronto.

…”Acting was a secret dream. In university, I was accepted into the theatre program and my mom says, `The hell you are.’”

…Karpluk’s character, Erica has a dysfunctional Jewish family, with her mother played by comic actor Kathy Laskey.

“I’m not Jewish and it scared me as an artist because I didn’t know about being Jewish.”

…”‘I’m Ukrainian, but I learned that being Jewish is not that different, the guilt is the same and talking over each other is the same.”

…Her breakthrough role was the lead in Godiva’s, set in the restaurant biz in Vancouver, where the actress resides.

…Her TV credits include Men in Trees, The L Word, Flash Gordon and Dark Angel.
